Navigation and fleet coordination technology developed at the University of Lincoln as part of Agri-OpenCore has been licensed to JABAS.AI (Just a Better Autonomy Solution), a University of Lincoln spinout incorporated in February 2026 and publicly launched in May 2026.
JABAS.AI provides safe, reliable coordination of fleet-scale navigation for farm robots. Its software works with different robot platforms and does not rely on GPS, which performs poorly under canopy, in polytunnels and near structures. Instead it combines LiDAR, computer vision and localisation, and is offered as autonomy-as-a-service. Read the launch announcement from Ceres Agri-Tech.
This is the route Agri-OpenCore set out to create: an open core that anyone can use, with room for companies to build commercial products on top. The open components, including topological navigation and the sentor runtime monitor, remain freely available on the Software and Resources page.
